As a church we believe in the importance of both Sunday church and Monday church, and we are active in meeting the needs of those in our local community. The stories below show how Edge Church is partnering with others to transform our community through practical projects that help improve the quality of people’s lives.

Childhood Cancer Association Office Renovation (2011)
The Childhood Cancer Association is South Australia’s key childhood cancer support organisation, dedicated to providing hands on emotional, practical and financial support to families in need.
In October 2011, Edge Church undertook a complete renovation of their facilities in North Adelaide to enable the CCA to offer a safe and secure environment to provide programs and counselling facilities for children with cancer and their families. See how this significant project was completed in just two weeks and the dramatic final result by watching the video below.
Service to Youth Council (2011)
Over two weekends in March 2011, Edge Church in partnership with SYC (Service to Youth Council) renovated a seven unit facility in the heart of Adelaide. These units are for youth who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless, to provide them with affordable and safe accommodation whilst transitioning into the mainstream rental market. The project saw the unit courtyard facility repainted, new timber balustrades and screening installed, landscaping, plus the renovation and refurbishment of the common room with new furniture, kitchen and television.
Childhood Cancer Association Christmas Fair (2010)
Each year the CCA hold a Christmas Fair for children with cancer and their families. In December 2010, the CCA afforded us the privilege and joy of hosting their Christmas Fair and serving its members and families. Our South Campus building was transformed into a "min-Disneyland" featuring Prince and Princess Land, Animal Kingdom, Game Zone, Food Fair, and Santa's Cave. An army of hundreds of volunteers rallied together to serve the 450 people who attended. For us the event was exceptional opportunity for us to again partner with CCA and serve our community with hope, truth and love.
Michael Rice Units (2010)
In just one week in March 2010, Edge Church was able to completely transform four units managed by the Childhood Cancer Association in Prospect. These units are used for families from country or rural areas whose children are in Adelaide for cancer treatment. Families are typically housed in these units for between 6 weeks to 9 months. The renovation significantly helped improve the quality of the families’ stay during their difficult journey. Work included painting, landscaping, provision of new appliances, furniture and equipment, as well as completely brand new kitchens and bathrooms.
As with the community projects we have completed in the past, the funds available for this project were extremely limited. However, we were again able to accomplish a great deal thanks to the generosity of businesses partnering with us through the provision of materials, equipment and goods, plus the hundreds of workers who generously donated their time throughout the renovation week.
Fulham Gardens Primary School (2008)
In November 2008, Edge Church partnered with Henley/Fulham Uniting Church, Grange Baptist Church and the West Adelaide Football Club in renovating Fulham Gardens Primary School. Working closely with the school principal and teachers, the team renovated several areas including the installation of a brand new state of the art playground facility, landscaping and planting around school grounds and play areas, and repainting exterior areas surrounds including walls, bins and benches.
Women’s & Children’s Hospital (2007)
The 2007 renovation of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Paediatric Outpatient Area was a great success. The Outpatient area has over 250,000 people use this facility each year, with both children and staff greatly benefiting from this amazing transformation. The project involved 377 volunteers contributing from 16 different churches. We could not have achieved so much without the support of the volunteers and the businesses that donated their products and services. The Edge Foundation and Edge Church contributed a total of $61,000 in funds to support this project (total estimated project cost $350,000).
Women’s & Children’s Hospital (2006)
Hundreds of volunteers from a number of Christian churches across South Australia rallied together in the 2006 renovation of the Accommodation Unit at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The 2 week blitz completely renovated the on-site accommodation block for families including the transformation of 28 bedrooms, a common room, kitchen and bathrooms, and the provision of new furniture.
Morphett Vale High School (2004)
The 2004 transformation of Morphett Vale High School was our first major community project. Seeing a need that needed to be met, Edge Church (formerly known as Southside Christian Church) mobilised over 600 volunteers to help give the school and massive facelift including cleaning up garden beds and planting new plants, respraying chairs and tables, repainting bins, support poles, beams, handrails, benches and walls, new line marking and provision of 50 new computers.
